Hitman Steam

A few weeks ago, it was announced that players would be able to transfer their Hitman 1 and Hitman 2 content into Hitman 3 on all console and PC systems. After a bit of carry-on and perhaps some disappointment from the community, it now appears that developer IO Interactive will soon allow PC users to transfer their data from Steam to their Epic Games account after some uncertainties at first.

A recent report states that a solution has been worked out and is being tested, and even with conservative estimates, import features between the two digital platforms will become available this month. Taking to Twitter earlier in January, Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney said IO was looking into it and that there was never intention that those who bought Hitman 3 on Steam would have to rebuy it for Epic.

The original intention was to allow players to transfer levels and locations from both Hitman 1 and 2, and allow for the transfer of Hitman 2 player profiles. However, it's worth noting that Hitman 2 isn't available through Epic and the only way for fans to get hold of it would be to buy the access pass, which could potentially see people paying nearly $100 including the DLC. Understandably, some may consider that to be too expensive for DLC game content.

I'm not much of a user of steam. I rarely buy games, but I saw Hitman and I loved it and I wanted to buy, but it's just there is no add to cart link for Hitman 2016 like on Hitman 2 as you can see in the below screenshot. There is only Game of The Year Edition, Essential Collection and DLC. As far as I understood these are not the actual full game. Hitman 3 Now Lets PC Players Import Hitman 1 And 2 Levels From Steam. No matter where you purchase Hitman 1 or 2, you can now import all of your owned levels into Hitman 3.

Sorry, the team is looking into this with IO. It’s never Epic’s intent to create a situation where someone who owns a game on Steam would have to buy it again on Epic Games Store to get the full benefits of it.

The announcement of data transfer to Hitman 3 content is likely to be good news for PC gamers, but some may see it as an issue which should have been resolved much sooner. Epic Games giving away free games might be able to placate them for a bit. Hopefully, now that a workaround is being tested and promises of transfers coming very soon, it won't mar the otherwise spotless reputation of the Hitman franchise. Having said that, it seems things have come quite a long way seeing as at one point there didn't seem to be any way to import Steam content into Epic, so that's progress.

The Hitman 3 was released in January 2021 to favorable reviews and, like all the games in the Hitman series, chronicles the exploits of Agent 47 as he continues the plot of the previous game. It's considered a strong sequel with reviewers praising Hitman 3's impressive level design and ability for players to create their own content. It's arguably one of the most popular stealth games around, especially with the likes of Splinter Cell dropping off the radar. Although, with a new Splinter Cell game rumored to be in development, only time will tell which of the stealth franchises will come out on top.

When Hitman 3 was revealed as an Epic Games Store exclusive for PC, IO Interactive said players would be able to import their Steam content from the last two games - but it turns out that won't be the case.

A rundown of IO Interactive's launch plans for Hitman 3 reveals that Epic Games Store players will need to get access packs to play the levels from Hitman (2016) and Hitman 2 even if they already own them on Steam, though IO has some plans to make the transition more palatable.

For starters, you'll get the access pack to all of Hitman's levels for free if you pre-order Hitman 3, or buy it within 10 days of its arrival on January 20. If you already own Hitman on EGS - even if you picked it up during its turn as an Epic Games Store freebie back in August - you'll also be able to grab the access pack for free whenever.

Unfortunately, Hitman 2 never came to EGS. The only way to get its levels in Hitman 3 will be to pick up an access pack: the Hitman 2 Standard Access Pass, which includes all the levels from the base game; the Hitman 2 Gold Access Pass, which includes all the levels from the base game and DLC; and the Hitman 2 Expansion Access Pass, which includes just the DLC levels, will all be available for 80% off on EGS for the first two weeks after Hitman 3's launch.

The good news is that your progression from Hitman 2 will transfer over just fine even if your levels don't. Make sure you log into your IOI Account on the studio's website to complete the process before you start playing.

IO also revealed that the Hitman 3 Switch release date will be the same as the other versions, even though it's doing some special streaming magic.
